The Grayson County Detention Center is beginning a phased re-opening of its three facilities to the public.

Beginning on Monday, July 13, in-person visitation for attorneys will resume. An attorney interested in speaking with his or her client must email video@gcdetention.com. Before arriving at the facility, they must submit a COVID-19 screening. During the meeting, face masks must be worn and only one attorney is allowed to attend.

Inmate visitation through the glass will resume on Wednesday, July, 15. Visits to either of the three facilities must be planned at least 24 hours in advance and only one visitor will be allowed per inmate.

The Detention Center is also putting a limit on the total amount of visitors allowed in the facility. At the main jail on Shaw Station Rd, only eight will be allowed in the building at a time. At the female jail, only two will be allowed and only one will be allowed at the Detention Center Annex.

Grayson County Jailer Jason Woosley says that the visits will continue to be only 15 minutes in length and that everyone will be required to wear a face mask. Visitors may also be required to undergo a COVID-19 screening upon arriving at any of the facilities.

Woosley says that failure to abide by any of the rules will result in the visit being canceled.

At this time, plans are still being discussed as to when property drop-offs, religious services with outside leaders, programs, and other Detention Center activities may resume.
