
A Warren County man has been jailed after being shot by Bowling Green police as he drove toward an officer.
According to Kentucky State Police, troopers responded to West 10th Avenue in Bowling Green Sunday morning at approximately 9:00 after a Bowling Green officer shot 37-year-old Joseph D. Compton, of Rockfield, as Compton drove a Ford passenger car at police.
Compton fled the scene, but was later located at Greenview Regional Hospital as he sought treatment for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The suspect was treated and released and taken into custody. He’s been charged with attempted murder of a police officer and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer. Compton was also served with five warrants.
He is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
The Bowling Green PD originally responded to the scene to investigate a theft complaint.
