Elderly Hardin Co. man killed in ATV vs. SUV accident

An elderly Hardin County man has been killed in an ATV accident.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to a collision between an SUV and ATV at approximately 12:45 Tuesday afternoon in the 100000 block of Hwy 1600 (Rineyville Road). Upon arriving at the scene, troopers found that 86-year-old Joseph “Jack” Hughes, of Vine Grove, was attempting to cross the roadway on an ATV when he was struck by a 1995 Ford Explorer, being driven by 19-year-old Alyssa Hammock, of Guston.

Hughes was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Hammock was uninjured.
