The Clarkson Police Department seized methamphetamine and cash during traffic stop on Elizabethtown Road.
Monday morning at approximately 11:30, Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith observed a Saab passenger car driving erratically as the vehicle left the 200 block of East Main Street. The Saab traveled east as Meredith initiated a traffic stop in the 6200 block of Elizabethtown Road, near the intersection of Crow Hollow Road.
Upon making contact with the driver, 46-year-old Abraham Valinski, of Oregon (but who has been in the area for several months), Meredith suspected he was under the influence of a substance, as Valinski was sweating profusely, talking rapidly and was fidgety as he reached around inside the vehicle, Meredith said.
Meredith detained the uncooperative Valinski, who refused to produce a driver’s license and gave Meredith a false name. During a search of the Saab, the chief located a significant amount of methamphetamine, a glass methamphetamine pipe containing residue, the suspect’s driver’s license as well as nearly $1,000 in cash.
Valinski was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), DUI, reckless driving, and giving an officer a false name. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jarrod Mudd and Deputy Erik Franklin assisted at the scene.
