Last week, two Grayson County High School seniors verbally committed to play college football at Campbellsville University.
The first to announce was linebacker Zack Bratcher. The senior led the team in tackles in both his junior and senior seasons. During his career, he had six takeaways and a pick-six against Graves County in 2019.
On Bratcher, GCHS head coach Bryan Jones said, “Zack has had a very good career here at GCHS as a linebacker. He’s been a 3-year starter that has worked his tail off. He is a great example of setting a goal as a young kid and working to achieve it throughout his career. He is the ultimate selfless teammate stepping in to play offensive line for us this season to help contribute to our successes on that side of the ball. Couldn’t be more happy and proud.”
Later in the week, Caden Woodcock joined Bratcher by announcing his commitment to the Tigers. Woodcock finished with the 7th highest rushing yard total for a season in Cougar football history with 1,107 and became only the 12th player to become a part of the “1,000-yard club.” His 15 touchdowns placed him tied for 5th in the KHSAA’s Class 5A.
Jones said “Caden has blossomed this year offensively with 1100+ yards in just 8 games. He patiently bought his time the past three seasons with some other guys that have been in front of him and when he got his shot this year he took full advantage of it. Again he had a great work ethic this pre-season to put himself in a position to handle the workload we put on him. I think this year showed him how good he could be and allowed him to build some self-confidence.”
Campbellsville is an NAIA football program and coached by Perry Thomas. In the most reason season, the Tigers finished with a 1-9, but are three years removed from a victory in the NCCAA Victory Bowl.
Bratcher and Woodcock are expected to officially sign their letter of intent in February.
