A Meade County man has been charged with murder after he admitted to shooting and killing his wife.

The Meade County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old Christopher Pollock, of Brandenburg, Thursday night at a home on Atwill Street, in the heart of Brandenburg and where the murder took place. Pollock also admitted to killing the family dog.

According to media reports, the investigation began when Pollock’s 10-year-old son called 911 about 9:30 Thursday night to report that his step-mother and dog had been shot. The boy was inside the home at the time of the shooting.

When deputies and Brandenburg police arrived at the home, Pollock “reached for a gun on his hip,” WDRB reports. Officers then began fighting with Pollock, as the suspect kicked a deputy in the face. He was eventually tazed and detained.

In addition to murder, Pollock has been charged with assault of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, domestic violence, resisting arrest, and second-degree cruelty to animals

He is being held in the Meade County Detention Center.
