A Louisville woman has been jailed after trying to cut her 10-year-old son’s tongue out before killing him.
Louisville Metro Police arrested 28-year-old Kaitlyn R. Higgins Tuesday night and charged her with murder (domestic violence) and tampering with physical evidence.
Police responded to the 1800 block of Algonquin Parkway after someone called 911 and reported a woman with a gun and a deceased boy wrapped in a blanket, according to a report by WAVE3.com.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Higgins on the porch of her residence with blood visible on the porch steps. Police then opened the trunk of Higgins’ vehicle and found her son’s body.
Higgins, according to the arrest citation, “admitted to attempting to cut the victim’s tongue out of his mouth,” then shooting the boy and placing him the trunk or her car.
She’s being held in Louisville Metro Corrections on a $250,000 cash bond.
