A London man has been arrested for kidnapping his girlfriend’s seven-month-old son and threatening to kill him.
Police said 21-year-old Charles Shores was arrested late Tuesday night after choking his girlfriend, hitting her in the face and then running into the woods with her baby, according to WKYT.com. Shores then left the child in a ditch.
Authorities searched for Shores for nearly an hour before his girlfriend’s neighbors spotted him just before police arrived at a nearby location.
Shores, who also has warrants out of Whitley County, was charged with kidnapping (of a minor), wanton endangerment, domestic violence assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon resisting arrest. He's being held in the Lauril County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
The baby was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
