The Grayson County High School Football Alumni Association will host its third annual Tackle Hunger Food Drive in support of the Grayson County Alliance Food Pantry.
The food drive will take place between August 23 and September 10.
GCHS Class of 1983 classmates Deb Gatto, Sherry Sebastian, Frankie Carroll, and Jill Blankenship will lead drive.
Despite the pandemic, last year’s campaign resulted in direct monetary donations of $3,160 to the Alliance. Officials said 1,630 items were collected, resulting in 1,621 pounds of food donated, which provided 1,380 meals to Grayson County residents in need.
This year, Bluegrass Land Title, The Vape Shop, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and the Tri-Parishes of St. Anthony, St. Benedict and St. Augustine, will join Farmer’s Feed Mill as drop-off sites for anyone who would like to participate.
As a reminder, the Homecoming Tailgate 2021 event on September 10 will be the last chance to participate. There will be drop-off sites at the entrance to Cougar Stadium, as well as at the entrance to the tailgate location.
Remember, please add your graduating class year at the bottom of the can for tracking purposes, and a little friendly competition.

Game On at Farmer’s Feed Mill
Farmer’s Feed Mill will conduct week long Game On activities during the week of September 6.
Besides collecting food products, they will provide a concession stand with proceeds going toward the Doug Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Additionally, the Class of ‘83 is selling chances for a set of Larry Kopp’s (class of 83) Corn Hole Boards. All proceeds go to the Doug Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Tickets can be purchased locally through Frankie Carroll (270-287-7311), at Farmer’s Feed Mill and the Vape Shop beginning on August 23, or the Homecoming Tailgate on September 10.
