A former Monroe County Deputy Sheriff has pled not guilty to wire fraud in federal court.

Larry Dale Martin, 34, of Glasgow, is accused of devising a scheme to sell and or give away surplus military property obtained from a Department of Defense program, including a camper and ATV, between 2011 and 2014.

The revenue from the property was intended for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Martin also worked as a Glasgow police officer from 2006 until March 201, when he was terminated. Two weeks after his firing, he was arrested for impersonating a police officer.

Martin additionally served as an officer with the Horse Cave PD.

If convicted on the wire fraud charge, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a 250,000 fine.
