
On Friday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported 4,801 new COVID-19 cases in Kentucky and 18 deaths.
The state has now had 14,840 new cases reported the last three days, raising the total number of cases ever announced in the commonwealth to 562,623.
Of Friday’s new cases, 1,529 (31.8 percent) are children 18 and younger.
The new deaths raise the total number of COVID-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic to 7,685 (1.4 percent fatality rate).
The positivity rate checked in at 13.33 percent, the highest the metric has ever been.
The governor announced the most ever COVID hospitalizations, as 2,129 people are currently hospitalized, 14 more than Thursday. Officials said 592 patients are in intensive care, up only two patients from Thursday, and 349 patients were on a ventilator, up four from Thursday.
