A multi-vehicle police pursuit that began just north of Brownsville with speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour ended on St. Anthony Road after two of the three fleeing vehicles crashed.

Thursday morning at 12:55, local law enforcement was notified that Edmonson County deputies and a constable were chasing three vehicles — at least two of which had reportedly been stolen — that blew by police at over 100 miles per hour on Hwy 259, just north of Brownsville.

The chased entered Grayson County before ending in the 200 block of St. Anthony Road after one of the vehicles, a Kia Optima, took out a mailbox and road sign and entered a ditch line before flipping at least once. A fleeing Ford Fusion drove off the road and into a ditch.

The occupants of the vehicles fled the scene on foot.

One other car involved in the chase, believed to also be a Ford Fusion, continued fleeing east toward Peonia Road.

Police and Anneta firefighters thoroughly searched the area for the drivers with no success. About an hour after the chase ended, Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress located fresh blood drops near a barn a few hundred yards from the crash site, but the drivers were not found.

Working the scene were Grayson County Sgt. Jason Luedke and Deputy Justin Cockerel along with Fentress and Edmonson County deputies and a constable. Leitchfield Police Department Detective Kevin Smith and Sgt. Keith Harrell assisted at the scene and the Anneta Fire Department provided traffic control and helped searched for the suspects.

EMS personnel were also on scene.

The investigation continues.
