Grayson County Fiscal Court on Tuesday approved the purchase of a new asphalt spreader and agreed to allow the Grayson County Detention Center to donate a van to a county government agency.

Grayson County road workers located a 2009 Ford truck to replace the county’s 1994 model that has a pump system from the 1960s and is impossible to find parts for, according to Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson. The judge added that the current asphalt distributer has suffered many mechanical problems over an extended period of time.

Additionally, the 2009 model has a 2,000 gallon tank, while the old spreader has a 1,200 gallon tank.

The price of the new spreader is $83,000.

Van donated to Grayson County Health Department

Magistrates also agreed to allow Jailer Jason Woosley to donate an out-of-service van that remains in good working condition to the Grayson County Health Department.

The health department organizes and conducts numerous mobile labs and mobile testing sites throughout the year and has been conducting the public service out of a passenger car. Henderson, upon learning the health department was looking for a new vehicle, suggested the out-of-service van to health department officials.

Extension office board reappointments

Magistrates approved the reappointments of Ruth Woodrum, David Zurmehly and Larry Embry to the Grayson County Extension Office board.

The trio’s current two-year terms expire on December 31, 2021.
