The Grayson County High School basketball teams will host their annual Meet the Cougar Night on Friday evening at the high school.
While the traditional chili supper will not happen this year, that will not deter from other activities planned throughout the night.
In 2019, the teams combined for an alumni basketball game that was a massive hit. After taking a year off due to COVID-19, the alumni will once again return to the court and attempt to take down this year’s Cougar teams.
The alumni will be coached by former Lady Cougar head coach Ema “Junior” Sapp and will feature former players like Brittany Bird, Shelbi Tyra, Shelby Miller, Trevor Ray, and others from Cougar lore.
Other events planned include a three-point shootout, a performance by the Grayson County cheerleaders, and a full introduction of this year’s teams.
Both the Cougars and Lady Cougars will look to defend their 12th District titles from last season. The Cougar boys return virtually all of their scoring from last season’s team.
The Lady Cougars will have a familiar face guiding the team as former Cougar boys coach Todd Johnston takes the helm of the program.
If you are unable to attend the festivities on Friday evening, K105 Digital Productions will have a live stream available via Facebook and YouTube.
The 2021-22 basketball seasons will officially tip-off on November 30 as both teams host Breckinridge County.
