
On Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced 3,032 new COVID-19 cases and 70 deaths in Kentucky.
The new cases increase the total number of COVID cases in Kentucky since the onset of the pandemic to 805,426.
The new deaths raise the state’s death toll to 11,418 (1.4 percent fatality rate) and gives the commonwealth 327 deaths over the last five days (65.4 per day), with 519 COVID-related deaths over the last 10 days (51.9 per day).
The positivity was 9.14 percent, down slightly from Tuesday’s 9.17 percent. On November 1, the positivity rate was 5.03 percent.
Hospitalizations continue to increase as 1,144 people were hospitalized on Wednesday, up 35 patients from Tuesday. The number of people in intensive care went up from Tuesday’s 305 to 312 on Wednesday, and patients on ventilators rose from Tuesday’s 174 to 179 on Wednesday.
One-hundred-five of Kentucky’s 120 counties are in the “red,” as the statewide incident rate is 47.5, nearly twice the number of cases needed over the last seven days to have a “critical spread” of the virus, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
