One of two Hardin County residents charged with murder, including the daughter of the victim, has been sentenced.

Krystal A. Erbelding, 35, of Elizabethtown, and 28-year-old Jacob Lugmayer, of Radcliff, were arrested one day after the April 30, 2020, murder of Krystal Erbelding’s mother, 63-year-old Kathy Erbelding, of Elizabethtown, who was legally blind.

Lugmayer, after pleading guilty to murder, complicity to first-degree burglary, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence, was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison, according to The News-Enterprise.

Kathy Erbelding was found deceased at her home at 398 Wise Lane, about one mile northwest of Towne Mall. She had been shot twice. Both Erbelding’s lived in the home.

Kathy and Krystal Erbelding at one time lived in Grayson County.

Under questioning, Krystal Erbelding admitted transferring $700 from Kathy Erbelding’s bank account to purchase the gun used to killer her mother.

After receiving a tip that a murder had taken place, and within hours of discovering the body, the investigation, involving Kentucky State Police, the Elizabethtown Police Department and Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, led authorities to Krystal Erbelding and Lugmayer.

Krystal Erbelding faces a trial next year on charges of murder, robbery and abuse of a corpse.
