A Trigg County woman is facing a murder charge after an autopsy showed her five-month-old son died from acute methamphetamine intoxication, Kentucky State Police said.

Shaylynn Curtis, 28, was originally charged on October 27, 2021, with abuse of a corpse after she wrapped her deceased son’s body in a blanket and placed him in the attic of her residence on East Adams Mill Road, about four miles northeast of Cadiz.

The boy died on October 26.

Curtis never called 911 or reported the baby’s death, police said, but law enforcement responded to Curtis’ home after her friends expressed concern for the baby.

Following Kentucky State Police receiving the medical examiner’s report indicating the baby died from acute methamphetamine intoxication, the findings were presented to a Trigg County Grand Jury, resulting in Curtis’ indictment for murder.

She’s being held in the Christian County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond.
