The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) on Monday said 265 new COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed since Friday.

GCHD Director Josh Horton said the number of new cases have been “pulled from our local contact tracing team and does not include numbers related to COVID-19 at-home test kits,” giving rise to the likelihood that additional residents have tested positive since Friday.

In the last 11 days, 954 new cases have been announced by the GCHD, raising the total number of cases ever in the county to 7,463. Since January 3, 2,058 COVID cases, or 27.6 percent of Grayson County’s total number of cases, have been reported.

Grayson County’s incident rate on Monday checked in at 265.4, the fourteenth highest rate of occurrence in Kentucky. An incident rate over 25.0 indicates a “critical spread” of the virus, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

There are 774 active cases in Grayson County, according to Horton, down 74 active cases since Friday.

Seventeen people are hospitalized, health officials said, the most ever COVID-related hospitalizations in the county, and the same number of hospitalizations as Friday.

One new death was reported, raising the county’s death toll to 114. Seven deaths are awaiting confirmation from state health officials.
