
The Grayson County High School Cougar and Lady Cougar track teams opened the regular season last Saturday with a sweep of Ohio County and Breckinridge County.
Despite the chilly temperatures on the track, the Cougar boys were able to combine for 90 total points, 50 more than second place Ohio County. The Lady Cougars came away with 63 total points to defeat second place Breckinridge County by 21.
The Lady Cougars picked up wins in the 4x800m relay (Chloee Darst, Phoebe Spears, Molly Geary, Gracie Portman), the 400m dash (Geary), pole vault (Amelia Hayes), high jump (Darst), long jump (Kaylee Jessie), triple jump (Jessie), and in the discus/shot put (Raylee Shepherd).
The team also placed in second in eight other events.
The Cougars boys sped past the competition for victories in the 110m hurdles (Devon Keller), 100m dash (Luke Milliner), 1600m run (Peyton Nash), 4x100m relay (Hayden Bradley, Kaylor Decker, Landon Stone, and Milliner), 300m hurdles (Keller), 200m dash (Milliner), 4x400m relay (Milliner, Decker, Nash and Ethan Hall), pole vault (Zach Pierce), high jump (Keller), and discus/shot put (Layton Hawkins).
The next meet scheduled for the GCHS teams is March 15th at Elizabethtown High School.
