
After allowing the Cougars to score an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning which then extended the game 11-2, the Cougars then gave up 11 runs to the Bruins in the top of the seventh to win their scrimmage game 22-2.
Grayson County trailed 11-1 with two outs in the fifth inning, when Shelby Davis hit a sharp ground ball at Ballard shortstop, Mikayla Milby, who pulled off the ball for an error, which then allowed Addy Bratcher to score from second base.
In the top of the seventh, the Bruins sent 14 batters to the plate against Grayson’s Audrey Killion and 11 of them scored. The Bruins’ Riley Gentry had two home runs on the night and drove in three runs.
Bratcher doubled leading off for the Cougars, then scored on a sharp grounder off the glove of the first baseman, Macy McCoy, who dove, but could not come up with the ball.
Bratcher finished the game 2-for-4., with both runs scored for the Cougars. Second-baseman Madelyn Henning was 2-for-3 on the day.
