A man has been arrested after fleeing Kentucky State Police in Ohio County and placing the lives of nearly 10 road workers in peril.

Kentucky State Police said that on Monday morning at approximately 7:00, a trooper spotted a Chevrolet Camaro traveling at 101 miles per hour on I-165 (formerly the William Natcher Parkway) in Ohio County.

As the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, 28-year-old Brent A. Parker, of Madisonville, fled at speeds reaching over 120 mph, police said.

“The suspect was aggressively weaving in and out of traffic in an effort to flee,” police said, “and near the Butler County line, the suspect entered a construction zone where he was passing traffic by traveling around the orange barrels in the prohibited area.”

Authorities said there were nine construction workers in the immediate area.

In a further attempt to elude the trooper, Parker quickly attempted to take the Cromwell exit but he was travelling too fast and wrecked.

The trooper was then able to take Parker into custody without further incident.

He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), reckless driving, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, failure to wear a seat belt, improper passing, failure to signal, and failure to produce an insurance card.

Parker was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center.
