Cougars take down Butler County 8-6

Grayson County’s Cougars beat Butler County’s Bears 8-6 on Senior Night Monday at Don Lee Field.

Leading by one run, 3-2, the Cougars scored five times in the fifth inning to nail down the win.

The Cougars took an early two-run lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Bears made it 2-1 with a run in the third inning, before the Cougars scored once in the fourth to make it 3-1.

Parker Pendley drove in Kolton Hudson, who had doubled with two outs to make it 3-2 in the fifth inning.

The Cougars then loaded the bases with no one out in the fifth inning before Michael Wood doubled in two runs. Ethan Snyder then drove in a run with a ground out to short.

The Cougars then had Landon Haycraft bat out of turn and walked to load the bases for Chandler McCrady, who singled to drive in the final two runs.

The Bears responded with four runs in the top of the sixth but left a runner in scoring position. Levi Rogers then worked a 1-2-3 seventh to put down the Bears and pick up the save.
