Leitchfield Post Office honoring fallen longtime employee Javier Rodarte with “Last Ride” around his route

The Leitchfield Post Office is honoring a popular longtime employee who perished in a vehicle accident on Sunday.

The post office is holding a “Last Ride” for 62-year-old Javier Rodarte, known affectionately as Jay, Friday evening beginning at 6:30.

Postal employees will line up their vehicles at the post office, at 210 South Main Street, with Rodarte’s postal vehicle leading the procession which will then travel his mail route.

The convoy will proceed around the Leitchfield Town Square and onto North Main Street to East Walnut Street. They will then travel onto South Clinton Street to East Chestnut Street and back to North Main Street before turning onto Mill Street.

The procession will proceed onto Johnson and Spring Streets to Salt River Road before turning right into Kiper Subdivision and ending his route by traveling the streets off Mulberry Street.

They convoy will finish Rodarte’s “Last Ride” by traveling to his former home on Logan Lane.

Rodarte, who was a retired U.S. Marine Master Sergeant, served in the armed forces for 25 years before working at the U.S. Post Office for 20 years.
