A Big Clifty woman has been jailed after behaving erratically and suspiciously before breaking into a home Sunday night.

The initial incident occurred at approximately 7:00 Sunday night in the 200 block of Langley Drive after the homeowner arrived at his residence and saw a woman, 31-year-old Ashlee Devore, standing “next to his garage and had the padlock in her hand that had went missing onto his garage door,” according to the arrest citation.

The homeowner advised Devore to leave, which she did.

About an hour later at a residence in the 900 block of Morrison Road, the citation states that a homeowner noticed Devore “walking around in his neighbor’s back yard and he did not think that they were home.”

Devore then approached the witnesses’ property, resulting in the homeowner making his way to his front porch when Devore “turned around and walked back down the road.”

Grayson County Deputy Justin Cockerell arrived on scene, “met with Devore and trespassed her from” the Langley Drive and Morrison Road locations, the citation states.

Then, at approximately 10:30 Sunday night, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of Morrison Road on the report of a burglary.

Upon arriving at the scene, police spoke with the homeowner who told deputies that “Ashlee Devore had come into her home and taken some food and drinks,” according to the citation.

The homeowner further advised police that when a relative arrived at the residence, Devore was “at their home in their yard eating an ice cream cone, the same brand she kept in the freezer.”

The homeowner’s relative told Devore she needed to leave, which she did.

The homeowner further stated that she was missing food and soda and that her “cabinet’s door was laying in the floor.”

Deputies then traveled to Devore’s home, also in the 1400 block of Morrison Road, but the suspect refused to open the door. After announcing their presence and identifying themselves as deputies several times, and Devore continuing to refuse to open the door, police forced entry into the residence, according to the citation.

Devore, who was uncooperative and combative, was placed under arrest.

Additionally, deputies found at Devore’s home “several keys” and a padlock that had been taken from the residence in the 200 block of Langley Drive earlier in the evening.

Devore was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree attempted burglary, first-degree criminal trespass, and resisting arrest. She was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
