The uptick in COVID-19 cases in Grayson County continues but the positivity rate fell nearly two-and-a-half points last week.
Three weeks ago, the county reported 52 new cases to the Kentucky Department for Public Health; two weeks ago the Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) reported 59 new cases of the virus; and last week 62 new cases were reported, giving the county 173 cases diagnosed over the last three weeks.
Beginning two weeks ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention placed the county into the “medium” category, indicating a medium level of spread of the virus in the community.
Illustrating the sudden increase in cases, only four weeks ago the county reported 32 new cases.
On an optimistic note, the county’s positivity rate, which was 17.07 percent two weeks ago, fell to 14.73 percent last week.
(Positivity rate statistics do not include residents who conduct home tests and fail to report results to the GCHD).
No new deaths were reported, leaving the county’s death toll at 135.
Since the onset of the pandemic, Grayson Co. has had 8,286 cases of the virus diagnosed.
