An eastern Kentucky man has been charged after hiding his deceased girlfriend’s body in a bedroom.

The Ashland Police Department on Wednesday served a search warrant at a residence on Lyons Lane and located a body hidden between a bed and wall. The body, according to WYMT.com, appeared to have been there for “an extended period of time.”

The body, Boyd County Coroner Mark Hammond told the news outlet, was identified as Summer Goldie, 44.

Living in the residence was 44-year-old Whitney Filion, Goldie’s boyfriend.

Police said Filion knew Goldie was deceased and yet failed to notify anyone of her death.

He placed a blanket over the body in an attempt to hide the death.

“The corpse was placed in a way that would outrage ordinary family sensibilities,” the criminal complaint states, according to WYMT.com’s report.

Filion was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse and lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.

Police do not feel the death was a homicide, as there were no signs of trauma on the body. Officials are awaiting toxicology results.
