A Grayson County man has been sentenced to prison after being arrested on drug trafficking charges twice in 10 weeks.
Jeffrey M. Mudd, 56, of Falls of Rough, was initially arrested on November 10, 2020 and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.
He was again arrested on January 25, 2021 and charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, failure to maintain insurance, and driving on an expired operator’s license.
Mudd, who was featured on five Grayson County’s Most Wanted lists before being captured in April 2022, entered guilty pleas on May 17, 2022 to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia related to his November 10, 2020 arrest.
Also on May 17, 2022, Mudd entered guilty pleas to two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana related to his January 25, 2021 arrest.
The failure to maintain insurance and driving on an expired operator’s license counts were dismissed.
Mudd, according to court documents, was sentenced earlier this week by Judge Kenneth H. Goff II to five years in prison for the November 2020 methamphetamine trafficking charge and 12 months in jail on the drug paraphernalia count, to “run concurrent, one with the other.”
He was additionally sentenced to two years in prison for the methamphetamine trafficking and possession charges from January 2021, which will run concurrent with his five year prison term.
Also running concurrent to Mudd’s five year sentence are two 12 month sentences he received for the two possession of drug paraphernalia charges and the 45 days he received for possession of marijuana, court documents state.
