An Elizabethtown chiropractor has been found guilty of raping a minor as he faces another trial for molesting a juvenile.

Matthew J. Colasanti, 34, was recently found guilty in a Hardin County courtroom of third-degree rape, with the jury recommending the maximum five years in prison. Prosecutors tried Colasanti for first-degree rape but the jury found him guilty of the lesser charge, according to a report by The News-Enterprise.

Colasanti was arrested in December 2020 after being accused of fondling and raping an underage relative in late November 2020 after offering to perform a back adjustment.

Formal sentencing is scheduled for October.

He faces a second trial following a 16-year-old girl accusing him of touching her in an inappropriate manner on several visits between April 2020 and June 2020. The victim told police Colasanti would rub her buttocks underneath her clothing and touch her on other areas of her body as he treated her for upper back pain.

That accusation led to Colasanti being charged with first-degree sexual abuse. His trial on that charge won’t begin until at least late this year.

He was indicted for first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse in March 2021.

Colasanti owned and operated Colasanti Chiropractic.
