A Leitchfield woman was airlifted and a Grayson County man injured in a near head-on collision on Shrewsbury Road.
Monday afternoon at approximately 2:50, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Clay Boone, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the crash in the 8600 block of Shrewsbury Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a Chevrolet Cruze, being driven by Rae Anne Blankenship, had been traveling north when the vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck a Kia Soul, being driven by James Meredith, of Grayson County, according to police.
The two vehicles hit nearly head-on, spinning the Kia off the roadway and into a yard where it came to rest on its top.
Leitchfield fire personnel had to extricate Blankenship from the Cruze by removing the driver’s side door.
She was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS where she was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. Meredith was transported by EMS to the ER with non-life threatening injuries.
