A magisterial race in Breckinridge County and a city council election in Meade County have been decided by coin tosses.
In Breckinridge County, incumbent David Albright and Ronnie Robinson, vying for the Fourth District magisterial seat, received 572 votes. In Meade County, Muldraugh city council candidates Debarah Noel and Sharon Hodge received the same number of votes.
According to Kentucky election statutes, elections that end in a tie are decided by a coin toss.
In the Breckinridge County magistrate race, the candidates agreed one candidate would flip a coin while the other chose heads or tails. Albright chose heads and regained his seat, WDRB.com reports.
In Muldraugh, Meade County Clerk Judy Jordan tossed a coin to decide between candidates Noel and Hodge, with Noel choosing heads and winning the seat. According to the city of Muldraugh website, neither candidate was an incumbent.
