Nellie Doris Cooper, age 86, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Friday, (December 2, 2022) at her home. She was born on April 29, 1936 in Short Creek, KY, the daughter of the late Joseph Delmar and Una Dale Edwards Day.
She retired from Frito Lay Foods as a quality control operator. Doris enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, taking care of her flowers and crocheting. She also loved to fish. Her greatest joy came from taking care of her family. She was a member of New Hope Church.
She is survived by her son, Larry Wayne Cooper of Caneyville; daughter, Cathy Sue Becker of Vista, California; four grandchildren, Chad Cooper (Sara), Todd Weedman (Cassie), Jessica Becker and Brandon Becker (Jennifer); eight great-
grandchildren, Emma Kate Cooper, Eli Cooper, Jackson Weedman, Jagger Weedman, Jhett Weedman, Nova Lee Weedman, Lynnlee Becker and Joshua Paul Becker; one brother, Delmar Day and one sister, Judy Baxter; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, St. Elmo Linden Cooper, whom she married on October 17, 1953; four brothers, David, Joseph, Sherman and Billie Day; and two sisters, Carolyn Beasley and Earlene Minton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, (December 7, 2022) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Pastor James Lindsey will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery on Hwy 79.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
