
One person was killed and another injured when two oil tanks exploded in Muhlenberg County.
The Greenville Fire Department along with other fire departments responded to the explosion Monday morning at approximately 8:20 in the 2300 block of Hwy 853, about 10 miles south of Greenville.
A male, found about 100 yards from the site of the explosion, was transported to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Another man suffered “respiratory issues,” according to the Greenville FD. His current condition is not known.
The EPA, which helped contain hazardous materials immediately after the explosion, state Fire Marshall’s Office and Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the explosion.
