Two Grayson County women have been jailed after the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office found drugs, including fentanyl, along with a toddler at a residence on Renfro Street in Clarkson.
Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:00, Grayson County Deputy Wally Ritter and a Department for Child Based Services worker (social worker for children) arrived at the home in the 200 block of Renfro Street on an investigation. Initially, no one answered the door and Ritter left. But the landlord, according to the arrest citation, soon called Ritter and said he was going to unlock the door to the residence and requested Ritter return.
When Ritter made his way back to the home, he made contact with 34-year-old Christian M. Sparks, of Clarkson, and her three-year-old daughter. Sparks allowed Ritter to enter the home, and after receiving consent to search the residence, the deputy located 62-year-old Cynthia S. Kutz, of Leitchfield, in a rear bedroom along with “a pack of syringes and spoons, a container of cotton sponges … (and) an uncapped syringe along with another spoon with meth residue on it,” the citation states.
Ritter also found an Ibuprofen bottle containing a blue pill marked “M 30,” indicating a fentanyl pill. He additionally found a pill bottle with “rocks of methamphetamine in it.” In another pill bottle, Ritter found “multiple Tramedol pills (an opioid pain medication).”
During a search of Kutz, Ritter located “a bag with a small amount of methamphetamine inside it.”
Both Sparks and Kutz were arrested, with Kutz charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, drug unspecified), tampering with physical evidence, persistent felony offender, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sparks was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, drug unspecified), endangering the welfare of a minor and tampering with physical evidence.
Both suspects were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Kutz, who has a long arrest and conviction history, was convicted in Jefferson County in September 2019 for complicity to commit third-degree burglary, complicity to receiving stolen property (more than $500, less than $10,000), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), tampering with physical evidence, and first-degree promoting contraband, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
She was granted shock probation after serving approximately six months in prison and is on probation until March 16, 2025, according to the KDC.
