Body found at construction site of new Scott Co. High School

A homicide investigation is being conducted after a body was found at the construction site for the new Scott County High School.

The construction crew arrived at the site at Long Lick Pike and Hwy 25 Monday morning at approximately 6:30 and discovered a deceased female.

The victim had suffered at least one gunshot wound.

“This morning, Georgetown and Scott County agencies were notified of an unresponsive person at the entrance to the construction site of the new Scott County High School. Upon arrival, First Responders located a female victim who was determined to be deceased. The Scott County Coroner’s Office and Georgetown Police Department Criminal Investigation Section were notified to respond and begin their investigations … Until a contrary determination is made, this death investigation is being treated as a homicide scene,” the Georgetown Police Department, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Scott County Coroner’s Office said in a joint statement.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
