Teen dies after vehicle enters Lake Cumberland

A Pulaski County teenager has died after a vehicle entered Lake Cumberland.

Cameron Powell, 17, of Somerset, was pronounced deceased by the Russell County Coroner’s Office Friday night at approximately 9:30 at the Clifty Creek boat ramp after a vehicle drove into the water. Another of the vehicle’s occupants made it to safety and was unhurt.

The body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

Kentucky Fish & Wildlife and the Russell County Coroner’s Office are leading the investigation.
