Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) is accepting nominations for the 2024 Beacon of Light Awards.
The awards honor African Americans in the ECTC service area — Breckinridge, Green, Grayson, Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor, and Washington counties — for their successes, exemplary service to their professions and communities, and their commitment to servant leadership and equity.
“We are so proud to honor African American leaders with the sixth annual Beacon of Light Awards,” said ECTC Director of Cultural Diversity Jerisia Lamons. “Each Beacon of Light Award recipient is a hero who has fought through adversity, changed their community and lit a brighter path for the next generation.”
Nominations must be submitted by January 16. Past nominees who have not been awarded may be nominated again. Those nominated but not awarded in 2023 will be reconsidered for the 2024 awards.
The following criteria will be considered:
- Demonstrated high level of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in their local community
- Serving as an inspiration and role model for their local community
- Displayed high level of excellence in their field of expertise
- Community involvement and volunteerism
- Past awards, achievements and accolades
Nominations must be submitted at ectc.us/beacons.
The sixth annual Beacons of Light Awards ceremony will be held February 23, 2024, at ECTC’s Elizabethtown campus. Visit elizabethtown.kctcs.edu for updates about the ceremony.
