The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office announced a $100 million settlement with Walgreens for its role in furthering the opioid epidemic.

The $102 million settlement, to be remitted over a 15-year period, resolves allegations that Walgreens engaged in unlawful business practices that exacerbated the opioid epidemic, the attorney general’s office said.

In addition, Walgreens has agreed to monitor, report, and share data about suspicious activity related to opioid prescriptions.

“This settlement has been a long time coming,” Attorney General Daniel Cameron said. “And while nothing can truly fix what the opioid epidemic has stolen from us, this money is a glimmer of hope for Kentucky; real dollars for real recovery.”
