A former elementary school assistant principal, athletic director and coach in Floyd County has pled guilty to molesting students between 1997 and 2007.

April Bradford, 51, of Weeksbury (Floyd Co.), pled guilty on Thursday to eight counts of third-degree sodomy and 11 counts of first-degree sex abuse, according to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.

She admitted to sexually abusing two minors when she was in a position of authority as a coach and teacher during the victims’ middle and high school years.

“Bradford will serve three and a half years in jail,” the attorney general’s office said, and will be required to register as a lifetime sex-offender under the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry upon her release. Bradford will be under the supervision of the Dept. of Corrections for five years following her release.

Bradford was indicted in June 2022 following a lengthy Kentucky State Police investigation.

She last worked as an assistant principal and athletic director at South Floyd Elementary School. She was suspended, and later fired, by the school district in spring 2022 during the KSP investigation.
