An elderly Corbin woman has been charged with attempted murder.

The Corbin Police Department responded to a trailer park on the report of a disturbance after a female told 911 that “she was going to shoot a person at her residence,” according to police.

As officers were responding, the female caller told 911 she had shot someone. Upon police arriving at the scene, officers found a female suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where Corbin police said the woman is “reportedly stable.”

Following the subsequent investigation, police arrested 78-year-old Zella Paul and charged her with attempted murder. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.

The investigation is ongoing.

Corbin police, in a social media post, said “… details will be kept limited to protect the integrity of the case. However, Probable Cause has been established to charge the accused with Attempted Murder.”
