Ottis Ervin LaRue, 80, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, passed away on February 13, 2023, in Leitchfield.

At the request of Mr. LaRue, there was a private graveside funeral service at The Grove Baptist Church, where he has been buried.  Arrangements were made by Dermitt Funeral Home.

Ottis was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to Paul LaRue and Ilene Tabb LaRue on September 20, 1943.  Ottis married Nancy Strange LaRue on February 4, 1967, at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Ottis was a long-time resident of Leitchfield, Kentucky, and spent his working years working for Kane Industries and then for Campbell Hausfeld, from where he retired.  Ottis enjoyed several hobbies over the years including pitching horseshoes, shooting pool, playing tennis, playing golf, playing corn hole.

He served his community through his contributions and service to The Lions Club and the First Baptist Church in Leitchfield.  Ottis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Ottis is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Strange LaRue; his parents Paul and Ilene Tabb LaRue; his first child, Shannon D. LaRue; one brother, Gilbert LaRue: one granddaughter, Ericka LaRue, one nephew, Tim LaRue.

Ottis is survived by his and Nancy’s children, Eric LaRue (Paige), Chad LaRue (Jennifer), and Shanda LaRue Galey (Dave); and their grandchildren, Jana LaRue and Natalie LaRue.  He is also survived by one sibling, Paul Randall LaRue.

The family requests that expression of sympathies be made through contributions to The Grove Baptist Church, which has played a central role in Ottis’s and the LaRue family’s history, or Hosparus Health who provided Ottis with incredible kindness during his end-of-life care.
