The mother of eight-year-old Trey Harris, who died from a fentanyl overdose, has been charged in his death.
Whitney C. Person, 35, of Madisonville, has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree manslaughter and conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance (fentanyl).
Person’s arrest comes three weeks after her husband, 33-year-old Antonio Person, was charged with second-degree manslaughter, trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Antonio’s arrest followed the Madisonville Police Department executing a search warrant — related to Trey’s death investigation — at the Persons’ residence where investigators located a large amount of fentanyl.
Last week, the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office said Trey’s cause of death was a fentanyl overdose, only a few days after the Food and Drug Administration said Trey’s March 15 death was not caused by strawberries he ate not long before passing away.
Antonio and Whitney Person are both lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
