An allegedly intoxicated driver has been arrested after crashing into a home on Lilac Road.

Grayson County Deputy Caleb Owens and the Leitchfield Fire Department were dispatched to the crash Saturday evening at approximately 7:20 in the 1800 block of Lilac Road (Hwy 737).

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a Dodge Ram 2500 Longhorn was traveling south when the vehicle left the roadway in a curve. The truck, being driven by 32-year-old John David Hardesty, of Meade County, traveled off the road for about 75 yards when it struck and drove over a clump of trees before hitting the side of the residence, which was empty.

In total, the truck traveled about 110 yards after leaving the road, and upon impact moved the foundation of the home at least a foot.

Hardesty, who was not seriously injured, was given a field sobriety test and arrested. He was charged with DUI and third-degree criminal mischief and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The home, according to neighbors, has been empty for an extended period of time.
