An investigation is underway in eastern Kentucky after a woman was found deceased from an apparent animal attack.

The body of 57-year-old Trina Sandlin, of Jeremiah, was found Sunday morning at approximately 1:00. She was walking from her home to a neighbor’s house when she was seemingly attacked by an animal.

“(The) preliminary investigation indicates that Sandlin had left her residence earlier in the evening to go to a neighbor’s residence but never returned,” Kentucky State Police said. “Family members located Sandlin near her home over an embankment and had suffered injuries consistent with an animal attack.”

Sandlin’s body transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation by KSP Det. Brandon Thomas.
