Three men, including a father and son, have been arrested in the murder of an eastern Kentucky woman in June 2023.
Kentucky State Police on Tuesday arrested 24-year-old Michael K. McKinney III, of Martin, and charged him with murder and seven counts of complicity to tampering with physical evidence. McKinney’s father, 56-year-old Michael McKinney II, of Martin, was arrested at a Floyd County restaurant and charged with seven counts of complicity to tampering with physical evidence.
Also arrested was 23-year-old Josh Mullins, of Martin, who was charged with seven counts of complicity to tampering with physical evidence.
McKinney II has worked as a dentist in Floyd County since 1994.
McKinney III, also known at “MK,” is accused of stabbing to death 39-year-old Amber Spradlin, of Prestonsburg, on June 18, 2023, at his residence on Arkansas Creek in the Martin community of Floyd County, according to Kentucky State Police.
McKinney II and Mullins are accused of helping cover-up the murder.
McKinney III is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center, while McKinney II and Mullins were lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
