A man accused of killing two small children three years apart has pled guilty to one murder.
Jordan B. Taylor, 23, of Corbin, pled guilty this week to killing his girlfriend’s toddler, three-year-old Amoura Smallwood. In addition to murder, he pled guilty first-degree strangulation and first-degree sodomy.
The jury recommended Taylor serve two life in prison without the possibility of parole sentences on the murder and sodomy charges, and 10 years for strangulation.
Formal sentencing is scheduled for October 15.
Amoura suffered brain bleeds, blunt force trauma and was sexually assaulted by Taylor in February 2023 at her mother’s home in Woodbine. The child’s mother was not home when the abuse occurred, police said.
In August 2023, Taylor was indicted for murder in the death of a Clay County baby in July 2020. The baby, according to a report by WKYT.com, was smothered to death.
According to online records, Taylor has been arrested at least 15 times since 2019 on charges including assault, domestic violence assault, theft by unlawful taking, first-degree terroristic threatening, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), possession of a defaced firearm, and menacing.
