A second Grayson County residence since Friday has been destroyed by a huge fire.

The Caneyville, Falls of Rough and Leitchfield Fire Departments, and Grayson Co. Emergency Management responded to the blaze Tuesday morning at approximately 1:00 in the 1000 block of Choncie Lee Road (off Hwy 79 between Caneyville and Short Creek).

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a large, wood-frame home fully engulfed in flames and threatening nearby wood outbuildings. The home was surrounded by a wooded area and large trees, as the house fire led to several trees catching fire. The tree fires were quickly extinguished.

Several firefighters positioned themselves around the perimeter of the home, as they battled the blaze from all angles. The residence, though, was a total loss.

A shed behind the residence also suffered severe fire damage.

The fire started at a charging station where an occupant was charging a lithium battery for a phone, according to Caneyville Fire Chief Brian Pharris.

There were no injuries reported.

This marks is the third residential fire since Friday in Grayson County, and the second to destroy a home. A fire Friday night at a residence on the corner of Alexander Drive and Emby Villa Road resulted in the home being a total loss.

On Saturday afternoon, a fire damaged the living room area of a Nancye Drive residence.
