A police officer who formerly served in Muhlenberg County before moving to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has died.
Wes Brown, 40, died on Thursday after a “courageous battle with cancer,” according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
Brown formerly worked for the Greenville and Central City Police Departments. He also served in the U.S. Army, according to his obituary.
The Central City Fire Department released the following statement on Brown’s death:
“We are all heartbroken to receive the news of Wes’ recent passing. To know Wes was to love him. He always had a joke to share, a helping hand to offer and a word of encouragement when it was needed most.”
Brown leaves behind a wife, Briana, and two young children.
