David Allen Butler, age 67, of Leitchfield, Kentucky passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on October 18, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Marvin O’Neal and Nelda Jean Butler. He was a member of the Leitchfield United Methodist Church and also attended the Leitchfield First Baptist Church and the Millwood Apostolic Church. He was a volunteer at the Grayson County Alliance/Food Pantry and the Leitchfield Animal Shelter. He also loved driving his vintage 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
A member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, he graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree and in 1982 with a Master of Business Administration degree. He was a college professor, retail store manager, bank manager and loan officer.
His work career took him to Dallas, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; Detroit, Michigan; St. Louis, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky; Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Leitchfield, Kentucky. He moved back to Kentucky in 1998 and in 2005 he moved back home to Grayson County.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepdad, Ellsworth “Lee” Howerton, and many special pets
He is survived by one brother, Daniel O. (Wanda) Butler; one niece, Alicia Michael) Sexton; one nephew, Adam (Samantha) Butler; two great nephews, Tatum and Rhett and one great niece, Coralee, Also surviving is his cousin, Matthew Butler; special friends, The Jonathan and Rachel Green family, The Kenneth Green family, Troy and Tammy Parr and many special friends at the Leitchfield Animal Shelter and Grayson County Alliance.
Funeral services will be held at 7 PM, Monday, May 5, 2025, at Watkins Funeral Home with Bro. Doug King and Bro. Keith Shephard officiating. Burial will be in the Clarkson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leitchfield Animal Shelter or the Garyson County Alliance Food Pantry.
