Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center (OHTLMC) has been selected as one of the top rural hospitals in the U.S.

The hospital announced on Monday it has been named among the 2025 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

OHTLMC was one of only two Kentucky hospitals selected for the recognition. The other Kentucky hospital chosen as a top 100 rural and community hospital was Bourbon Community Hospital in Paris.

Chartis’ annual Top 100 award program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®.

“This recognition is a testament to the relentless dedication of our team,” Ashley Herrington, CEO of OHTLMC, said. “Every provider, nurse and team member plays a vital role in ensuring our patients receive exceptional care. This honor reinforces our promise to serve Leitchfield and surrounding communities with excellence, compassion and purpose.”

“The Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals award program elevates the very best performers and helps create a roadmap for those seeking to improve financial and operational performance while continuing to care for the communities they serve,” said Michael Topchik, Executive Director of The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

“The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance,” according to OHTLMC. “Leveraging publicly available data, it is utilized nationwide by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across various areas impacting hospital operations and finance.”
