A Leitchfield man has been accused of raping, sodomizing and sexually abusing multiple sleeping women over the course of multiple years.
A months-long investigation by the Leitchfield Police Department resulted in Dakota Edwards, 20, being indicted by a Grayson County Grand Jury on three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and first-degree attempted rape.
Leitchfield police said the investigation began in January when a female victim reported sexual assault allegations against Edwards.
“Upon further investigation, multiple victims were found to have endured similar assaults by the alleged perpetrator over a period of 3-4 years,” according to the Leitchfield PD.
Edwards was found to have committed acts such as sexual intercourse, or attempted sexual intercourse, while females were sleeping. According to Leitchfield police, one victim also reported that Edwards masturbated on her as she slept.
“On multiple occasions when the victims woke up,” Leitchfield police said, “Edwards would become angry and force the act further until completion if they refused or resisted.”
Victims also reported to investigators other “deviant sexual acts” that Edwards allegedly forced them to engage in.
Some of the victims, according to police, were in some way connected to Edwards, while one victim had no previous relationship with the accused.
Edwards is being held in the Grayson County Detention Center on eight bonds totaling $4 million.
